Business Ideas

If you're looking for home based business ideas for your own business startup as a new entrepreneur then check out the following opportunities available to you.

Although we have posted the top business ideas below you should undertake your own research especially any work from home opportunity that you may come across to check the viability of any advertising you may see.

Best Business Ideas - Before You Start

Below are the best business idea opportunities we have come across. Be aware there are many opportunities that are not at first what they see especially for online or internet based businesses. There are no quick and sure fire ways of earning an instant income online and all businesses no matter how small they are require hours of hard work. Even if you were to write a blog you need to spend hours researching your material and spend time writing.

There are not many new business ideas on the market that have not been developed before. Most new programmes are existing businesses that have been given a fancy name or are simply targeted towards a new audience such as business ideas for women or kids. Many are low cost and are well suited for a part time income but are not that unique or unusual in their nature but please browse the following as they may prompt you to start your own business today (or tomorrow).

Additionally you may be frustrated and see others that may have riches and believe you could be like them. Or perhaps you've started several "opportunities" before but didn't get an instant return and put it to one side and then look for something else.

At the end of the day you'll need to work at whatever you decided to do. Not many people set up a new business on day 1 and get thousands in profits within a week. We all have to start somewhere but slow steps are better. Some marketing guru used to say "just make £1 online and the rest will follow..." and that's great advice because once you've learned how to make that first £1 you'll be able to do it again and again until you can make £10 then £100 then £1,000.

So onto the businesses you can start from home.

Writing a Blog

If you want to earn a small income online from home then what better way than to share your own experiences with others. The interest is full of information but not many blogs are written by experts and you may find that the information is not accurate. So if you are in a specialised industry (perhaps you are a police officer, NHS Nurse or prison officer) you can not only write about what it's like to be in the job but how to apply and what qualifications are required. There is so much you can write about. You'll earn money by perhaps posting adverts on your website, writing a book about "how to become a...." and selling it via paypal or selling other peoples' products - the list is endless. If this sounds like something you'd like to start then read our guide on starting a blog which shows you the software and how to install a blog.

Completing Online Surveys

There are many ads you will see saying you can complete surveys for companies and they will pay for your views and input. There are many legitimate companies offering this service where you can earn a modest income but many that ask for an advanced payment to see their offerings. You should not need to pay in advance to complete surveys online and some of the claims made are not true. So do your research first. For the legitimate sites you can earn an income and of course complete these online at home.

Writing Articles for Others

If you don't want to write for yourself (ie: develop your own blog as mentioned above) then you could write for others. The internet is still developing as the information superhighway and people want well developed articles for their websites and for article directories in an attempt to get ranked higher in Google or to promote affiliate products. Many look to developing nations such as India as they will only charge perhaps $5-$10 per article but the quality is poor. You will probably only get paid perhaps £10 per 400 word article and if this is not your area of expertise you will need to spend time researching the subject and then writing about it. A well written article may take at least 1 hour of your time or more if you are slower at typing than others but is something you can do at your computer by yourself.

Be a Virtual Assistant

Many small business owners outsource their telephone answering services and administration tasks to others. And if you have an internet connection with email you could offer yourself to assist other business owners from your home with these day to day tasks. Again you would be expected to earn only the minimum wage but if you are self motivated and organised then this could be the right opportunity for you.

Outsourced Telephone Sales

Many companies have their employees at home taking and making calls on behalf of others in the form of telephone sales. This is where you'll be given a list of people to call and offer them some services. Many people do have cold calling numbers barred but the majority of the population do not. You'll likely be making calls to other people who are at home looking after the kids and they may not want your call but you will be able to sell. If you are good on the telephone, are able to follow a script, are good at selling and don't mind people hanging up the phone and perhaps being abusive to you then this could be for you. You'll likely get paid only on successful sales rather than a fixed wage but at least you can still work from home.
