Internet Marketing Blog

Learn about internet marketing through our internet marketing blog - internet marketing these days is a tough and complex industry that encompasses not just search engine optimisation but pay per click advertising, email marketing, social bookmarketing, blogging, e-commerce, adsense, adwords - you name it.

Although a lot of newbies may think it’s tough to get right into making money online, it still can be done.

Most people start off thinking they don’t want to invest anything at all and want everything for no down payment. That is how the successful make a living online and how to advertise for free.

It’s a shame it’s like this. In any other industry you would have to plan properly, invest in your education, staff, premises etc and then invest into marketing and advertising so people know you are there. Most new businesses don’t start to make money right away, but if you believe most that is written, starting a new internet business should reap you rewards right away - wrong.

Most newbies fail because they are not making money after 24 hours. No other business allows a complete newbie to do this so why internet marketing ? I guess it’s because of the get rich quick type of schemes that seem to suggest that easy money is out there. Trouble is of course that someone has to give you that money and if it were easy then everyone would be doing it.

It is fairly easy to get going with a new internet marketing business and there are various ways to do this. Perhaps the best long term solution is to develop a product in an area you have expertise and promote your product. OK, you can make money in affiliate marketing but it is still best to develop your own business.

Of course you will not have instant success - hell, one of our businesses is only making real money after 2 years - it could take that long. But if you follow the standard formulae of developing a business idea (see below) you should start to develop an online business :

1) write down your experience/ expertise

2) think about/ research people who want that expertise (go to forums and see what questions people have about your specialised area)

3) develop a product around that

4) develop a webpage with a sales letter based around the problem people are having and how you are going to solve it

The above is the business development stage. This is standard marketing where you are identifying and satisfying a customer need. Now, if you didn’t want to make any money, you could just give the product away. You could just give it away to build a customer list so you can sell other products to that list at a later date - but let’s leave it as this product only.

5) advertise your webpage - either by being an expert in forums you have found and having your page in your signature (don’t advertise just offer advice and have a great sig line)

6) promote via adwords - be careful and read up on how to advertise properly

7) advertise offline
8) develop an email newsletter of some sort - if 100 people visit your website but only 1 buys, you have probably lost the other 99 forever - so develop some way to capture your visitors’ emails and put them into a l-o-n-g autoresponder series

That’s the basics - of course you need to develop your ideas around this - but if you do the above your should develop a very successful online business - then do it 4 or 5 times more and retire to your beach house !
