Online Customer Services
One item that many regular websites don’t have on their website is online customer services.
You may have seen the buttons that offer to “chat now” or “chat with customer services” that site on the navigation or at the top of a website. When you click on these buttons you are immediately put in touch with a representative so you can chat away and get any questions answered.
Mostly the major shopping portals use these but we have just added this onto one of our websites.
The results were outstanding - an almost doubling in sales straight away !
We believe that even just having the button on the website instills confidence that you are not just another fly by night website and that actual people are behind what you are offering. We believe this because no one has actually clicked on the button and chatted to us yet ! So it must be a confidence adding item.
These days it’s easy to add to your website. You get a small piece of javascript to add to the pages you want the chat button to be displayed and then you operate your button panel. Here you’ll see people move around your site so additionally you can initiate chat with people if they don’t seem to be moving in the right direction. This has added benefit because in a lot of cases people just don’t ask - if they can’t find something on your web site straight away they generally leave and never return.
So what online customer services were we using? It’s something aptly named “provide support” and you can get it at providesupport.com - it took us about 10 minutes to get it up and running and now have the control panel on all the time. It sends out various audio messages when people do something on your site - like visit the page in question or initiate a chat (your computer rings for you) so if you are a one man band you can just leave your computer on and listen out for it to ring - or of course you can outsource the entire customer services function as well.
At the moment after using it for a short time we give it 10 out of 10 - and of course they have their own online customer service support that is fast, friendly and efficient.
